New Year’s Intention Setting

Welcome to a New Year!

New Beginnings. New Intentions. New You.

Early January is a potent time to set intentions for the new year. On these short days and long nights, we can choose to embrace the darkness. This darkness in the environment invites us to turn our focus inward, toward the self, and become reacquainted with our inner-light.

Consider sitting in the stillness of the evening hours, spending time with yourself, and listening to your inner voice. This is the ideal time to journal and set intentions for the year ahead.

As I look forward to 2024, several intentions rise through me. I look for them to be attainable, easy to implement, and impactful. I love setting a low bar so that the intention is simple to achieve and there is room to excel. If an intention is costly of time or money, or creates inner turmoil, then I am less likely to commit. My intentions will help me to Live my Light!

I share my 2024 intentions in the hopes that they inspire your own light.

  • Do my personal practice every day for 366 days (yes it’s a leap year!). I define this to include meditation and qigong movements, and can be as little as 1 minute of practice. The key is that I will hold myself accountable to create a habit of personal practice each day.

  • Connect with nature more. I will go on more walks, hikes, and camping trips. I will leave my phone and airbuds behind and really listen to the sounds and see the sights around me.

  • Clean out my closets and drawers of the low-hanging fruit. I will look for items that have not been used in 10-20 years, and choose to bring them back into circulation either for myself or by donating to others. I will let go of what is not serving me. This shedding of physical clutter will help me to shed emotional and mental baggage as well.

  • Reconnect socially with those friendships that feed my soul.

  • Reorganize my work schedule to be more productive at the office and bring less work home with me.

What are your intentions for the new year?

Be gentle and intentional with yourself, as you align with the truth that is you.

May you Live Your Light in 2024!
