Recommendations: Near Death Experiences

As humans, we have many existential questions.

  • What is the purpose of life?

  • What happens after we die?

  • Is everything predetermined, or do we have free will?

I gravitate towards stories of Near Death Experiences, as the incredible accounts tend to offer perspective on life.

Those who physically died and came back to share their experiences, have compelling stories.  They often report feeling overpowering love and joy.  They become aware of a greater power, larger than themselves. Their lives tend to shift to one that is more spiritually connected, intuitively guided, and filled with a deeper sense of purpose.

I'd like to recommend three resources for your consideration and inspiration.  These are fascinating accounts that challenged and expanded my belief systems.

Dying to be Me is a story of self-discovery and miracles.  Anita Moorjani's memoir leads the reader through her childhood, offering glimpses of the cultural and family pressures that impacted Anita's connection to herself.

As a young adult, she developed fast-moving cancer that ravaged her body.  After several years of Western and Eastern medicine treatments, she found herself out of options.  As her organs began to fail, Moorjani had a Near Death Experience that shifted her perspective of herself in the world.  She shared detailed accounts of this experience and what she learned about letting go of conditioning and the expectations of others.

After returning to her physical body and a state of consciousness, Anita quickly and miraculously healed from the incurable cancer, and was released from the hospital cancer-free.  She now shares her story worldwide to inspire others to step into their personal power with self-alignment.

This book brings me hope, comfort, and a hunger to align with my true nature.  It reminds me that our physical ailments can be related to living out-of-alignment, and how important it is to be true to yourself.  Change and healing can be instantaneous when we live in our light.  May each of you Live Your Light!

The Stark Transformation Show is among my favorite podcasts.  Amy Stark, a Colorado energy healer, interviews incredible guests and experts about healing and transforming the mind, body, and spirit.

Amy spent years as a science teacher, and now applies her inquisitive mind to the science of energy medicine.  She has participated in research that proves the mind-body connection and the mind's impact on the physical world.

I particularly love her interviews about Near Death Experiences (NDEs).  Hear a first-hand account from those who died and lived to tell about it!

Some of the experiences shared in these podcasts include:

  • A detailed description of the afterlife (Karen)

  • Met her unborn children in spirit form (Brooke)

  • Greeted on the other side by loved ones who had passed (Deborah)

  • Gained intuitive gifts

  • Received a new sense of peace and purpose in life (Dominika)

  • Witnessed the scene of the operating room from above (Tricia, Karen)

I hope you find these accounts as inspirational as I have.

Life After Life is a compilation of clinical research from Dr. Raymond Moody, MD, PhD, founder of the term "Near Death Experience" in the 1970s.  He interviewed thousands of people who physically died and were resuscitated, documenting their experiences.  He found that the anecdotal information of each case was corroborated by others and wanted to apply the scientific method to this qualitative experience.  This book documents the overarching themes that near death experiencers encounter.  Dr. Moody makes the case that these near death experiences were a glimpse of the afterlife.

I hope you enjoy these resources and find inspiration in the stories of others.
